So when we got home I told Coral I thought the Pebble War was silly and we should stop it.

‘And – why did you go off with Angie?’ I said. ‘I thought we were friends?’

Coral pulled a face. ‘I don’t know . . . you were mean about Bertie. And Angie was nice to him.’

‘I wasn’t mean –’ I suddenly remembered telling her rocks didn’t have feelings. ‘Okay – sorry. I guess I was a bit mean. But you and Angie were mean not to let Chip play the game just because he’s little.’

Coral looked like she was going to say something, but stopped. To my surprise, at dinner time she made Bertie give Chip a bit of fish finger. If Bertie and Chip are friends, does that mean me and Coral are friends again too, I wonder?
